Multipurpose innovation laboratory

Laboratory where most of the company’s research is conducted, focusing on cutting-edge biotechnological projects. This space is a nucleus of creativity and development where different areas are explored, such as the cultivation and extraction of active compounds from microalgae, developing advanced techniques for their use in industrial applications and types of products.

Moreover, products and raw materials are designed and generated with molecules with “hormone-like” activity, which act at key points of plant metabolism. In this way, the plant is activated with very low application doses in a wide variety of environmental conditions, thus enhancing its use in agricultural applications.

This laboratory also carries out the study and use of industrial co-products, conditioning and reusing them in line with the circular economy and zero waste philosophy.

Agrochemical development laboratory

Laboratory dedicated to the formulation and optimisation of agrochemical products, determining the ideal combinations and proportions of coadjuvants and active ingredients needed to create high quality end products, based on the compounds and molecules researched in the Multipurpose Innovation Laboratory (INNOPOL).

The phenomic and physiological parameters of the plant materials used in the company’s experiments are also analysed, ensuring that the formulations are effective and safe for agricultural use.

Microorganism Laboratory

This laboratory is dedicated to finding, isolating, researching and producing those microorganisms that have a positive effect on crops, either because they help in their development, because they improve yields or because they protect crops from different types of stress (biotic or abiotic).

In this area, microorganisms are sought in samples, for example, from soil or roots, and then isolated, studied and identified using different molecular biology techniques. Once it has been decided which microorganisms are of interest to the company, this laboratory studies their growth and needs for their production at an industrial level. Later, when the microorganisms have been grown, processing is carried out to obtain, concentrate and dry them in order to obtain a microbial raw material ready to be formulated and packaged.

The Microorganisms Team is also responsible for the quality control of the microbial raw material, as well as for guaranteeing the quality, concentration and viability of the microorganisms present in the final product of the Atlántica Group.

Climatic cultivation chambers and experimental farms

We have three climatic cultivation chambers that allow us to rigorously control all the critical variables for plant development. These facilities are essential for conducting initial tests on the solutions before scaling up the experiments to the experimental farms, located in Villena and Mazarrón. Thanks to the cultivation systems available, both classical and hydroponic, the performance of the solutions can be evaluated under a wide variety of conditions, ensuring their efficacy in multiple agricultural scenarios. These infrastructures allow for continuous innovation and the development of advanced solutions that address the current challenges of biotechnology and agrochemistry, always focused on sustainability and integral use of resources.
